What Zoom gives you (and what it doesn’t)
Zoom cloud transcription saves an Audio transcript as WebVTT (.vtt). You can also
copy speaker + timecode blocks from the portal. Neither path is a finished Word deliverable — pasting raw VTT
into Word leaves timestamps, cue noise, and caption-sized line breaks.
SERP guides often push two dead ends: (1) open the VTT in Word and clean it by hand, or (2) upload the whole MP4 to another transcription service. If you already have Zoom’s transcript, you do not need to re-transcribe — convert the text you have.

- Sign in to the Zoom web portal (
zoom.us). - Open Recordings (or Recordings & Transcripts) → Cloud recordings.
- Open the meeting → download Audio transcript (usually
.vtt). - If transcription was never enabled, enable Create audio transcript under cloud recording settings for next time — or convert any SRT/VTT you already exported from another tool.

Does Zoom export Word directly?
No. Cloud audio transcripts download as WebVTT (.vtt), or you can copy on-screen transcript text. Neither is a polished .docx. Paste the VTT or plain transcript here to get editable Word with speakers and optional timestamps.
Do I need to re-transcribe the recording?
No — if you already have Zoom’s transcript (VTT or copied text), convert that file. Re-upload the MP4 only when you never enabled cloud transcription and have no transcript to paste.
